Other less evident types of pollution impacting biodiversity are noise and light pollution. Artificial lighting sources have been shown to disrupt sea turtle hatchling orientation from the nest to the sea (Lorne & Salmon, 2007). The short video below illustrates the impact of artificial lighting sources on marine sea turtles and how light pollution impacts can be minimised.


Anthropogenic noise pollution is also disrupting species both in terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Shipping noise, for instance, is reported to impact marine mammals, disrupting their travellingsocializing, and resting behaviours (Duarte et al., 2021).
