Other less evident types of pollution impacting biodiversity are noise and light pollution. Artificial lighting sources have been shown to disrupt sea turtle hatchling orientation from the nest to the sea (Lorne & Salmon, 2007). Anthropogenic noise pollution is also disrupting species both in terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Shipping noise, for instance, is reported to impact marine mammals, disrupting their travelling, socializing, and resting behaviours (Duarte et al., 2021).
